Walmart Matching Prices on Black Friday

Walmart announced its stores will be matching competitor prices on Black Friday and through the weekend.  See the article on Yahoo here.  But be careful, according to Walmart's price matching policy here, they do not match internet prices.  They are also going to be open on Thanksgiving Day!

Kroger Receipt Coupons

Have you ever read the back of your Kroger receipt?  I didn't until last night. First I went to Cartridge World on State Street to get my black cartridge refilled and saw on the counter a note about the Kroger coupon for $3 off a ink refill. When I asked the cashier told me that there are coupons on the back of the Kroger receipts.  Then I stopped at Kroger to get my Thanksgiving dinner items. And low and behold on the back of my receipt were lots of coupons, including the one for Cartridge World.  There is also $1 off any purchase at Firehouse Car Wash, BOGO sandwich at The Junction restaurant, BOGO family portrait at Paetz, $4.99 large pepperoni pizza at Good Times Pizza, $10 off any service at Dex-Tech auto service center, $2 off haircut at Graceful Styles, etc.

So next time you do your grocery shopping at Kroger don't forget to turn over the receipt for some great coupons to area vendors!

Understanding Sale Cycles

I had always heard there are cycles to the sales.  I found a great article at Stockpiling Moms regarding the sale cycles.  Anticipating the cycles or the next round of sales on something you need for your stockpile is very helpful. If you think about it the cycles make sense: picnic/bbq supplies in the Summer, baking supplies in December and so on.  Now you can know what coupons to save to match for the sales coming up.

Lead in reusable grocery bags prompts call for federal inquiry

Read the USA Today article about the reusable grocery bags may contain lead here. The article mentions Target and Walmart bags among others.  I personally still think its a better alternative to tons of those plastic bags everywhere.

Angel Food Ministries has hosts sites in Saginaw

Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing food relief and financial support to communities throughout the United States. The program began in 1994 with 34 families in Monroe, Georgia (between Atlanta and Athens), and has grown to serve hundreds of thousands of families every month across 45 states. Angel Food Ministries crosses denominational lines and has spread the good news of the gospel of Christ through salvation tracts that are placed in each food order.

Angel Food is available in a quantity that can fit into a medium-sized box at $30 per unit. Each month's menu is different than the previous month and consists of both fresh and frozen items with an average retail value of approximately $60. Comparison shopping has been done across the country in various communities using a wide range of retail grocery stores and has resulted in the same food items costing from between $42 and $78.

Generally, one unit of food assists in feeding a family of four for about one week or a single senior citizen for almost a month. The food is all the same high quality one could purchase at a grocery store. There are no second-hand items, no damaged or out-dated goods, no dented cans without labels, no day-old breads and no produce that is almost too ripe. Additionally, there is no limit to the number of units or bonus foods an individual can receive, and there are no applications to complete or qualifications to which participants must adhere. Angel Food Ministries also participates in the U.S. Food Stamp program, using the Off-Line Food Stamp Voucher system.

Angel Food Ministries has hosts locations in Saginaw at New Life Christian Fellowship Church, New Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Saginaw Valley Church of the Nazarene, and St. Joseph Church.  For more information, menus or to order, go to http://www.angelfoodministries.com/.  This can be a great help to the family's monthly grocery budget in addition to couponing!

Target makes cashiers hand-process coupons

Target has a new store policy requiring cashiers to hand-process all coupons in an effort to stop shorting its coupon-using customers.  For a full article in the Chicago Breaking News go to http://chicagobreakingbusiness.com/2010/11/target-makes-cashiers-hand-process-coupons.html.  They say they will have new technology in the stores in the next 10 days that will eliminate this processing problem.

I thought it was interesting to read about their "speed-o-meter" devices that tell how quickly the cashiers process each customer.  Those devices are being temporarily turned off to allow for hand-processing of coupons and a sincere greeting!

Target Deals This Week

You can find a listing of the best deals at Target for this week on
Bargains to Bounty at http://www.bargainstobounty.com/target-october-24-30-2010/

Remember you can stack manufacturer coupons with Target store coupons which can be found at Target.com. Also Target gives you $.05 off for each reusable bag you bring in and recently Target will give you 5% off your total bill if you use a Target charge card.

Walgreen Deals This Week

Visit Hip 2 Save at http://hip2save.com/2010/10/walgreens-deals-1024-1030.html to see this week's deals at Walgreens.  Remember that on Hip 2 Save she color codes her deals so deals listed in red are free or almost free.  Also remember to pick up a Walgreens coupon book at the counters and checkouts for store coupons that you can stack with manufacturer coupons to the best deals.  Kris says she buys all her candy at the drug stores for great deals!

Save at Pennzoil

Did you know that you can save $6 on an oil change at the Pennzoil Oil Change service center on Westbay Drive in Saginaw Township by showing your Kroger card? That's where I always take my car for the regular oil change. The guys there are always helpful and will answer any questions. And now I can save a few bucks!

Two inserts in this Sunday paper

There will be two inserts in the papers this Sunday, Smartsource and Red Plum.  Visit the Sunday Coupon Preview website at http://www.sundaycouponpreview.com/ for a complete listing of the coupons included.

Restaurant.com has special 80% off thru October 25

Take 80% off of $25 Gift Certificates and pay ONLY $2!  Or a $10 gift certificate for only 80 cents.

Just use promo code PUMPKIN thru 10/25! For a total of just $2, you’ll end up getting a $25 gift certificate! Or for an even better deal, you can purchase the Dinner of the Month Club. What’s that? It’s a 12 month package that comes with 12 $25 gift certificates and one FREE $50 gift certificate! The total for this package would be $120, but after you type in promo code PUMPKIN—your total will drop to just $24! Wahoo! That means you’re snagging $350 worth of dining certificates for ONLY $24!

**If your unfamiliar with how Restaurant.com works, then be sure to check out this post at Hip 2 Save.  (Thanks to Hip 2 Save)

I personally have use the Restaurant.com gift certificates at Forbidden City on Bay Road and also Court Street Cafe in Saginaw. They both worked great, no problems at the restaurant, and we enjoyed the food. Just note that each certificate requires that you spend over the amount of the gift certificate (like spend $35 when using the $25 certificate) and also you will be charged an mandatory 18% tip on the whole bill.  Still, it saves you quite a bit!

If you get a gift certificate from Restaurant.com and use it at a local restaurant, let us know about your experience.  We are always wanting to know of good places to eat and get great deals in our area.

Super Sale at Meijer tomorrow and mperks

Meijer

Meijer is having another Super Saturday sale tomorrow starting at 6 a.m.  There is not much in the ad but they have a good deal on Coca-Cola and Pepsi product 2 liter bottles for 88 cents, red seedless grapes for 89 cents, and Jimmy Dean sausage products at 2 for $3. They also have Bounty paper towels 2 roll packet, 2 for $5. Click here to see ad http://meijer.shoplocal.com/meijer/default.aspx?action=entryflash&storeref=43.  These deals can be even better if you have coupons on top of the sale price!

Before you go shopping, register for the mperks electronic coupons for Meijer at http://www2.meijer.com/mperks/Welcome.aspx.  You need a cell phone number to register and they are electronic coupons kind of like at Kroger.com. With the mperks, you go on line and add the coupons you want to your cell phone number. Then when checking out at  the store, tell the cashier you have mperks and your cell phone number.  Or in self-checkout push the tab for mperks and enter your cell phone number and you will receive the discounts.  We believe these mperks will work the same as the Kroger ecoupons and can be stacked with manufacturer coupons to greater deals.  If you find any different, please let us know.

Happy shopping tomorrow!  ; )

Kroger Store sets limits on printable coupons

While I was at Kroger store on State Street last night I confirmed with the Customer Service Desk that they do not accept internet printable coupons valued over $1.00.  That means any $2.00 coupon or those Kraft "Save $5 off 5 items" coupons will not be accepted at Krogers.

I had used my Kraft $5 off 5 coupon at Meijer. They checked them in their "counterfeit coupon" file and then let me use them. I am so stocked up on cream cheese and cheese blocks.

If you have not printed the Kraft $5 of 5 coupon, you can find it at http://brands.kraftfoods.com/kraftcheese/index.html.  Use it to buy 5 Kraft cheese or dairy products and Kraft will donate 5 meals to Feeding America.
