CORRECTION: 4 Coupon Inserts in Sunday's paper

CORRECTION:  There will be 4 inserts in the papers this Sunday: 2 SmartSource, 1 Red Plum and 1 P & G.

Extreme Couponing

Have you been watching the TLC Extreme Couponing shows?  They have begun a new series of them on Wednesday evenings at 9:00 and 9:30 p.m.  It has certainly gotten people talking about coupons!  However I think the key word there is "extreme." Those people are nuts! Who gives up a shower for 100 rolls of toilet paper!?! What single woman needs 50 antacid?  Who spends 49-60 hours a week on their coupons? Do you? 

Kris and I were talking about it the other day. I don't spend 40 hours a week on coupons, nor have the goal to clear shelves. I spend 1-2 hours a week on blogs and cutting coupons (usually during Greys Anatomy) to help make ends meet for my family. I don't think I have ever saved 98% at Kroger. I am happy when I save 40-50%. I'm ecstatic when I get free detergent or toothpaste for our stockpile but I get 3 or maybe 6 of each, not 99! I am worried that the show is giving couponers a bad image and worring the stores that now seem to be tightening up their coupon policies and making it harder for the rest of us.

New Kroger Coupon Policy?

I just read a post at Monroe on A Budget that there will be a new coupon policy at Kroger stores.  It seems you will no longer be able to combine a ecoupon from Kroger.com with a manufacturer coupon. They will only give you the discount of the kroger.com ecoupon, not doubled, and not the manufacturer coupon.  If that is truly the case, I guess I would quit getting the ecoupon at kroger.com and just use the manufacturer coupon which doubles for the greater discount.  I wonder if this will apply to the Cellfire.com ecoupons also. I'll have to check into this further.

Retail Savings For This Weekend!

I found a new blog for finding deals at Wicked Cool Deals.com!  She has a great listing of retail store deals for this weekend here.  It includes JCPenney, Old Navy, Barnes and Noble, Office Depot, Sears and may more. Its the longest retail deal listing I have seen!  If you plan on any shopping this weekend, check the list first!

Restaurant.com - 80% Off Gift Certificates

Restaurant.com is having another 80% sale!!!  For a complete description to here to see the posting on Bargains to Bounty.  I have used Restaurant.com gift certificates locally at The Court Street Cafe' and Forbidden City on Bay Road.  I have had no problems using them as long as I followed the rules printed on the certificate, to spend the amount stated and tip at the amount required. 

Cheap Entertainment

One of my favorite places to go for a "cheap" night is the Court Theatre where all movies are $5 with free pop refills and 50 cent refills on popcorn. To see what is showing now, go here.

According to SundayCouponPreview.com there will be 3 inserts in the paper this weekend: SmartSource, General Mills and Proctor Gamble.  However I think that is what was in last weekend's paper. Another page on the website shows listings for Red Plum insert for this Sunday (go here).  Some free oatmeal at McDonalds!!!  Maybe their listing is off by a week?

Crock Pot Meals under $10

Bargains to Bounty just helped me discover a great recipe website A Busy Mom's Crock Pot Cooking Adventures!  I love it. You have to check it out.  I have been wanting to get more use out of my crock pot and looking for some good soup recipes for the winter.  I can't wait to try come of these, especially the Cheesy Potato Soup and Pasta Fagioli recipes.  I already subscribed to her website to get all updates and recipes!
